Some are coated with a special type of spermicidal fluid. Although there are many other types of contraceptives available on the market, none of them provide double protection against sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy the way condoms do.
Birth control pills, vaginal rings and diaphragms all have a high probability of preventing pregnancy. However, none of them protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Those who engage in casual sex, or one night stands will not be able to accurately ensure their partner is healthy sexually. Therefore, a condom is the best option, and certainly a necessary option in this day and age where sexual diseases are prevalent.
However, condoms do tend to break sometimes. Some people counter this by wearing two condoms. Others also use a lubricant, because one of the main reasons condoms break is excessive dryness. Other disadvantages include possible allergic reactions to the material with which the condom is made and to the spermicidal fluid.
When engaging in anal sex, it is advisable to always use a condom. This is because the prevalence of bacteria in the anal cavity, which are not found on any other part of the body, can lead to infection and irritation.
Condoms need not be a deterrent to having great sex. Sometimes, they can even serve to enhance intercourse. Condoms come in all colors and flavours. Popular flavors include banana, strawberry, chocolate and apple and their main purpose is to make oral sex more exciting. Ribbed condoms feature ribs, whereas studded condoms come with bumps, which give greater pleasure to both partners during sex. Others may want to use a thinner skinned condom for added pleasure.
